The vast majority of residents of the Estate join the WRA, which is a voluntary organisation.  We urge all to do so.  The greater the number of our members, the stronger our voice in discussions with local councils and other bodies. All residents have an interest in the Estate, its environment and its future and it is our members who determine our goals and activities. The Why Join page explains the reasons for joining in more detail.

Membership requires payment of our annual subscription, agreed at our AGM.  Our current levels of subscription reflect the fact that we are rebuilding our finances after successfully dealing with several threats to the covenants and other matters that required legal advice, which is inevitably costly.  We have to maintain a reserve in case we need advice in future.  Our other costs, for minor administration, running our website and our AGM, are very small.  Our Accounts page shows details of our finances.

We have several categories of membership, listed below.  We run a direct debit scheme to make membership and payment simple.  Applicants can join easily by following the link on our Join page, which gives more detail on joining and payment arrangements.

Full membership is open to all residents with detached properties on the Estate. These properties are covered by the covenants which help to protect the semi-rural character of the area. The current annual subscription is £100 per household.

FULL

ASSOCIATE

Associate membership is open to households in mews houses and apartments on the Estate. The current annual subscription is £50 per household. This form of membership reflects the fact that these residents have a strong interest in the nature and quality of the environment of the estate, but their properties are not covered by the key covenants protecting the low-density character of the Estate. Associate Members have the same rights as Full Members, except that they cannot vote at meetings or on electronic resolutions. However, the WRA Committee listens closely to the views of all members, Full and Associate.

Friends membership is open to individuals or households who do not live on the Wildernesse Estate but are interested in and supportive of the activities of the WRA.  The current annual subscription is £30.  Friends receive our member communications and can attend our meetings but do not have any voting rights.
